The answers to some questions often asked about the services provided by Clearly Stated are provided on this page.
Please see also copies of our standard Terms and Conditions below.
- Who owns the copyright?
- Can you use existing material?
- How much will it cost?
- How do I place an order?
- How do I get the documentation?
- Can I make changes to the documentation later?
- Do you retain copies of the work you do?
You will own the copyright for any documentation relating solely to your product or your company, on payment of the agreed fee.
Unless otherwise agreed in advance, Clearly Stated will retain the copyright for training materials when the contract has been to provide training services.
Can you use existing material?
Probably, but whether that is a cost-effective option or not depends on the quality and accuracy of your existing material and how closely it is aligned with your requirements.
Documentation (including online work) can either be costed using an hourly rate or on a fixed-price basis.
- For hourly-based estimates, your requirements will be analysed and you will be provided with an outline of expected timescales. The more precise the information you provide, the more realistic the estimate.
- For fixed-price work, a description of the work to be undertaken will be provided. You will be asked to confirm that the outline given meets your requirements before work begins.
- Training courses are priced for a single delivery of a course. A discount is given for subsequent deliveries of the same course.
You can either raise a purchase order or sign a letter of agreement outlining the services to be provided and the associated costs. The letter of agreement can be sent to you by email for you to sign and return by fax, if you prefer.
How do I get the documentation?
This will normally be specified as part of the agreement, but the options available include: email; placing the files on a secure web site for you to download them; on CD; hardcopy (printed) versions.
Can I make changes to the documentation later?
If you own the copyright (see Who owns the copyright?), then you can make as many changes as you like. Please make sure that changes are NOT attributed to Clearly Stated.
Do you retain copies of the work you do?
Yes, unless you specifically ask us to destroy them, in which case we will require details of the request in writing, together with confirmation that the quality of the work provided is acceptable.
These copies are kept to enable us to carry out further work at minimal cost and will be kept in strict confidence. They should not be relied on to provide a backup of the files, although in the event of accidental loss we will be happy to provide further copies if possible.
The documents below are in PDF format and outline Clearly Stated's standard terms and conditions for most documentation projects and all training services. Terms for small or extended documentation projects will be agreed on an individual basis.
